MA ALUMNUS COLLABORATES WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO CREATE A MURAL

Mural

Artist-in-Residence and MA alumnus Munir Mohammed puts the final touches to a mural he created together with a band of 5 student "apprentices" at the William M. Davies Jr. Career & Technical High School as part of a Project Open Door residency at the school. The mural was developed around the school's motto of "Respect, Responsibility and Ready to Succeed." All the figures featured in the mural are actual Davies students. Project Open Door is a college access program housed in RISD's Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design and designed to provide teens, particularly those attending Rhode Island's urban high schools, with access to high quality art and design programming and instruction.
