MAT Alumna Competes in HGTV's Ellen's Design Challenge

TLAD alumna and designer Melissa Rivera Torres, MAT '05 was introduced this Stunday evening as one of eight designers who will compete for a prize of $100,000 in HGTV's Ellen's Design Challenge. Melissa's route to the final eight was assured last night after she outdesigned two other designers who alongside her were competing for the final spot on the show. This is not the first time Melissa found her way to an HGTV design competition -coming a close runner up in the White Room Challenge in which designers were challenged to transform a completely empty room using only a specific assortment of materials and within a specific time limit. One of the design challenges in that competion was to create a design inspired by a trip to a candy store. Melissa transformed the white room into a Child's Robot Bedroom.
