TLAD+POD Collaborates with the Rhode Island Art Education Association

This summer, RISD's Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design's (TLAD's) outreach initiative Project Open Door (POD) expanded its reach beyond high school students to Rhode Island's K-12 art teachers. In collaboration with the Rhode Island Art Education Association, POD ran an extraordinarily successful week long professional development event "Drawing Experiments: Investigating Possibilities and Alternatives in Drawing and Print" in its riverfront studio in which POD instructor and RISD faculty member Simonette Quamina guided art teachers through an investigation of experimental drawing and printmaking. It's our hope that a summer studio for Rhode Island's art teachers will become an annual event sponsored by RISD and Rhode Island College in alternate years.
